Vodafone Australia Business Sales have confirmed that they have seized taking orders or expressions of interest for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus as of Friday the 27th Sept 2014. This comes amidst concerns of the #bendgate debacle.
Customers have been calling the customer service centre in the hundreds to cancel orders for the iPhone 6 Plus due to fears of the bending issue as well as the supply chain delays. Delivery timeframes have been adjusted back until the 5th of November for orders placed before the 27th Sept 2014.
Vodafone advised that they are currently awaiting communication from Apple on how it intends to manage customers with bending issues before it will commence further sales to its clients.
Current clients have not been able to cancel orders and the Consumer Affairs Australia has been earmarked to launch investigations into this matter as clients refuse to wait for extended timelines and pay for phone asset charges without having received their phones.
Vodafone has in recent years suffered from negative PR in a few cases of hardline policies that caused significant customer losses. This event looks to be shaping up to have similar effects.
This also comes as a blow to Apple who are going to lose significant sale numbers as we elevate the stocks to sell from hold. Customers who bought the 1 generation iPhone and are on 2 years cycles with their contract will now likely explore other products as their contracts come to an end of their contract cycle.
