Months after rumors started floating about Google having made a play to acquire Twitch.tv, a dedicated video site for the gaming community to share in-game videos, Amazon has finally announced the acquisition for the same price. Amazon has advised that company is to remain independent and Jeff Bezos reiterated mutual learning opportunities. Amazon’s acquisition is likely a strategic move as it hones in to control traffic and pricing in the movies and gaming business. Google had mentioned underlying anti-trust issues with their dealings with Twitch according to Forbes. Twitch is currently taking in around 45 million video views a month.
